Roy is the former Executive Vice President and Director of Worldwide Communications for BBDO. Roy served in this role for 20 years, leaving at the end of 2019 to set up his own communications consultancy, Elvove Associates LLC.
At BBDO, Roy was responsible for helping to build and enhance the BBDO brand and reputation among the agency’s key target audiences. Over the course of his 20 years, BBDO was named Agency of the Year 25 times by various publications including Ad Age, Adweek, BtoB, Campaign, Creativity, Fast Company, MediaPost, Shoot and more – often on multiple occasions. Former Mayor Bloomberg even proclaimed January 10, 2006 to be “BBDO Day” in New York in recognition of BBDO’s contributions to the City.
Roy’s unique background has contributed importantly to his capabilities. Prior to being named Communications Director at BBDO, Roy worked as a senior account director at Saatchi & Saatchi. This experience provided Roy with a unique understanding of the duties and responsibilities handled by client-side counterparts. In fact, Roy was involved with managing publicity during the highly visible ousting of the Saatchi brothers during the early 1990s.
Roy is a past co-chairman of the American Association of Advertising Agencies (4As) Communications Committee and one of the original recipients of the Advertising Council’s GD Crain Award for outstanding contributions to public service. He has also been presented The President’s Award from The Advertising Club of New York and was recognized by BBDO with both its Founders Award and Dillon Prize – the agency’s highest service honors.
